Berta Hummel best known as the artist behind the beloved M.I.Hummel figurines,

her works of art extends far beyond these playful images of children.

Born on May 21, 1909 in Massing, Germany Berta Hummel trained as an artist at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich before she joined the convent.  It was the paintings she created here that would later inspire Berta Hummel Gallery.  Her years of schooling encompassed landscapes, city views, floral studies, still lifes, portraits, pictures of children, caricatures and decorative works.
